Art Deco Kitchen Towel You Can Crochet Today!

This decorative dish towel makes a great gift! Perfect beginner-friendly crochet pattern. The wooden ring makes this towel super easy to attach to your oven or dishwasher. Using I Love This Cotton yarn from Hobby Lobby or any other 100% cotton yarn.

An update about the wood ring, I’ve machine washed and dried mine several times before but recently I had the wooden ring break in the dryer. I believe I had the heat setting too high and the wood was still saturated from the wash causing it to crack. For this reason, I recommend letting your towel air dry after washing to ensure longevity!

Supplies

• I Love this Cotton in Dove: 150 yards or 2.85 oz (this yarn is also great!)
• 5mm hook (H) (I love this simple inexpensive one!) 
• 2.8” wooden ring (endless possibilities with this bulk pack!)
• Scissors (these are my favorite for traveling!)
• Yarn Needle

Notes

1. This pattern also works great with Lily Sugar n’ Cream and a variety of other cotton yarns. Check out www.yarnsub.com for tips of subing yarn.
2. V-Stitch (v-st) for this pattern is Double Crochet, Chain-1, Double Crochet in the same stitch. 
3. Double Crochet Two Together (dc2tog) is how we will decrease at the top. Follow these steps to do so:
   • Yarn over (YO) and insert into 1st st. 
   • YO, draw through st (3 loops on hook).
   • YO, draw through first 2 loops. 
   • YO, insert into next st. 
   • YO, draw through st (4 loops of hook).
   • YO, draw through 2 loops.
   • YO, draw through final 2 loops.

Instructions: 

Ch 34

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, *sk next 3 ch, 9 dc in next ch, sk next 3 ch, sc in next ch* repeat across, turn. 

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in first sc, *ch-2, sk 4 dc, sc in next dc (middle of fan), ch-2, sk 4 dc, v-st in sc* repeat across and end with 2 dc in final sc (instead of v-st), turn. 

Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 4 dc in first dc, *sk ch-2, sc in sc, sk ch-2, 9 dc in v-st* repeat across, ending with 5 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch (instead of 9 dc), turn. 

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in first dc, *ch-2, sk 4 dc, v-st in sc, ch-2, sk 4 dc, sc in dc* repeat across ending with sc in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn. 

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in first sc, *sk ch-2, 9 dc in v-st, sk ch-2, sc in sc* repeat across, turn. 

Rows 6-37: Repeat Rows 2-5

Don’t cut yarn after row 37.

Border and Top:

Don’t turn, sc up the side, around the top and down the other side. Leaving the scallop bottom un-worked. 

Cut yarn and weave in ends. 

Reattach yarn at the top end and now we’re going to decrease. 

Row 1: Dc2tog across the top and turn. 

Row 2: Repeat previous decrease row. 

Row 3: Ch 2, dc across.

Attaching to the ring: 

You are going to use a single crochet to attach to the wooden ring. 

Insert hook into 1st st, grab yarn & pull through st (2 loops on hook).

Then pull yarn through the center and over the ring then through both loops on hook.

How to hang your Crochet Art Deco Kitchen Towel:

To hang your crochet kitchen towel, in four easy steps:

(1) Pull the ring up behind your appliance handle

(2) Pull it up and over the front

(3) Grab the bottom corner of your towel and pull through the wooden ring.

(4) Your done!
